Philomena Lynott at John Nolan's Exhibition in Gallery 53:

During the opening of “Homage To Colour”, the highlight of John’s evening was meeting Philomena Lynott, mother of the late Phil Lynott, Irish and international rock star.

John was honoured to present Philomena with a portrait of Phil from his Icon series. Phil, in John’s view, placed Ireland on the world music map and will forever be a hero. "Thank you, Philomena,” John said, “for giving us Phil and his music, and keeping his memory and music alive."

Philomena truly was the star of the opening night and everyone was thrilled to meet her. The portrait is on view at Gallery 53, Capel Street, until October 11th.

Launch Of Brendan Nolan's Song Brook:

John's cousin, Brendan Nolan has launched his new CD, Song Brook.

"Brendan Nolan has been blessed with a rich Irish Voice and an Irish way with words. In his singing and his musical arrangements he helps his listeners to feel the pain, the joy, the humour, the triumph, the sadness, the longing, as deeply as did the old songs of the tradition." - Ron Duffy, Canadian Folk Music Bulletin, Calgary, Alberta.

A painting by John, Yellow Fish, was chosen by Brendan for the CD cover and booklet. For more information about Brendan and his music visit www.brendannolan.com.
