John's
Abstract work receives special recognition at The Upstream People Gallery:
"John
Nolan of Ireland is a prolific colorist. In his acrylic on canvas work entitled
“Rhapsody” he maintains a warm palette with vibrant reds, yellows and oranges.
The approach is richly expressive and exciting with the linear paths and bouncing
circles and large asterisk-like shape. All of his choices for this show are compelling". Larry
Bradshaw, Professor of Art, Nebraska University, USA.

John's
Abstract Work On New Jazz CD
Los
Angeles based trumpeter Brian Swartz is about to launch his new CD - Three. "Three"
is an homage to the great trumpeter Chet Baker and his trio from the late 1970s,
which included Doug Raney on guitar and Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen on bass. For
his trio, the Los Angeles based trumpeter chose two world-class sidemen: Larry
Koonse on guitar and Darek Oles on bass. The trio performs with intensity, subtlety,
and a striking poignancy, which could also very easily describe John's paintings. Brian
is a big fan of John's work and wanted to use one of his images for the CD cover
and booklet. He chose an abstract piece called " Crescendo" 48"x60" acrylic on
canvas. | |
