Calendar
2008 - Paying Homage
| John
Nolan has explored over the years many themes through his contemporary style and
at present is working on a series of paintings paying homage to great masters. |

He incorporates into his own work, images and references from paintings by Van
Gogh, Modigliani, Warhol, Lichtenstein, Matisse and Picasso. This series contrasts
John's motifs with many of the great icons of art history. He makes elegantly
economical use of simple motifs which are explored in clever compositions.Twelve
pieces from this series of work are illustrated in the 2008 Calendar. Each piece
is accompanied by brief explanatory notes that discuss the nature of the paintings. |
