Abstracts
- Colour is John's subject, which ever motif he is exploring,
his palette is his focus. Pushing colour contrasts to
the brink, but managing to keep that balance, is what
he most enjoys. In his abstracts the motif disappears
and pure colour and composition are explored. His instinctive
use of colour is inspirational and spontaneous. The
texture of each layer is important, ultimately achieving
a three dimensional effect. He is never in complete
control of the out come, but relies on his feelings
and emotions to guide him, until eventually abandoning
the painting, rather than attempting to finish it. Click
